Humans have been fighting since the dawn of our time. The primal man was not a weak man.

Think about it, our evolution started with us fighting to simply survive.

  • Fight for food.
  • Fight for shelter.
  • Fight for warmth.

Life was fighting.

And we didnโ€™t have such noble beliefs about loving our neighbor as we do now.

So there was a very good chance that if another caveman liked your cave better, only one of you is leaving that cave alive.

We, as primal beings, are fighters.

Itโ€™s why our natural response to anger as children is violent expression.

Kids often act out when someone takes their toy. Sometimes the crying and hitting starts immediately, while other times it may take some time for things to get ugly. But itโ€™s almost guaranteed.

Anyway, as humans evolved, so did our beliefs on fighting. We tried to โ€œcivilizeโ€ combat.

Bare hands became bows and arrows. Bows and arrows became cannons and gunpowder. Cannons and gunpowder became tanks and missiles.

We even created sports around fighting. We have professional athletes making millions of dollars doing what our primal ancestors did to survive.

Fighting is hard-wired into our evolutionary DNA.

Untrained, that primal being inside of you can get you in a lotttt of trouble.

No one goes about their day expecting a fight anymore. But when it happens, youโ€™re left with a choice-less choice. This is when the primal brain kicks in. You fight or you die.

This is how people end up in jail for accidentally killing someone in a fight. The primal brain took over and ensured their survival.

If you learn how to fight, you learn how to tame that primal brain. You can embrace it and use it to your advantage. You can turn it on and off when needed.

Which means you know when a fight is absolutely necessary, and when itโ€™s not.

You know discretion. You know aggression. You know fear. You know risk.

And because youโ€™ve been trained, you know that you donโ€™t need to fight unless absolutely necessary. And if you absolutely had to, you could win.

This is why you should learn to fight.

Tame the primal brain. Learn what youโ€™re capable of. Come to understand violence as a conscious choice, not a reaction.

And yes, youโ€™ll probably rack up a few bruises along the way. But at least you earned them.
